Well hello there! Sorry for the lack of posts last week, I was in Hawaii but now I'm back and getting back to my routine (even though I definitely wasn't ready to be). My husband and I went with my family and we stayed at the Aulani Disney Resort and it was amazing! I wanted to focus on spending time with family while we were there so I didn't take a ton of blog pictures other than of our outings and adventures so the pics above are some of the highlights of the trip.
The resort was so great and everyone we met was so nice and helpful! If you're looking to go to Hawaii at some point, I definitely recommend Aulani. It has so many fun activities for kids and adults, it was just an all around great place.
I learned very quickly that Hawaii is pretty expensive so I thought that I would share some money saving tips that we came up with so that we could still enjoy ourselves while saving money while we were out there.
The top way to save money that I recommend is trying to stay somewhere that offers you a kitchen or an area to grill or heat your food and a fridge. We had a kitchen so we made sure to make a plan for our meals while we were there because eating out gets expensive real fast, especially when you're there with your family. We knew what we wanted to make (super easy meals like cereal, sandwiches, hamburgers, etc.) so when we arrived we just ran to the local Costco and grocery store and picked up what we needed and split the cost between the family. This was so nice for us because we could eat when we wanted and it saved us so much money so we were able to splurge on one or two really nice meals and also go on fun excursions.
Another way we were able to save money on the trip was to share our hotel room. I know this isn't ideal for everyone but it really saved us so much money to split it with another couple.
There are so many ways to save money on vacation and I'll work on compiling some more for a later post. Thanks for stopping by and for all of your support! It's good to be back!

ReplyDeleteAhh, yay you went to the Dole plantation! I went there this past summer and fell in love with their pineapple ice cream! I agree, staying somewhere with a kitchen is great for keeping costs down!

I'm so with you on having access to a kitchen! We were lucky to be able to stay with family when we went to Hawaii over Christmas break and I think being able to cook our own food was our biggest money saver!
